The Head of Drug Control and Civil Society (DCCS) of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), Hajia Raimat Momodu in Abuja on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 accused African leaders most especially, Nigerian Government of not doing enough on the fight against drug abuse among its populace.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole during the launch of a five-year National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS) yesterday in Abuja said that the  Federal Government is committed to providing adequate public health services.

In recent time, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) or Genetically Engineered (GE) food substances were approved to be grown in Nigeria and the issue continues to generate debate for and against in many quarters. For those that are not agriculturally or scientifically biased; GMO means, those food substances that have been genetically altered or in other words, those whose genetic materials have been altered from its naturally occurring state. In another concept, genes from other sources have been introduced into these food substances and for various reasons such as an increase in quantity, size, growth rate, color /pigment, taste, among others.
