The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned fruit sellers against using calcium carbide to ripen fruits for commercial reasons.
Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General NAFDAC made this known on Tuesday in a statement in Abuja, saying carbide to ripen fruits is extremely hazardous to human health.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has disclosed that it would proscribe the used of Paraquat and Atrazine products by farmers.Dr. Husman Bukar, Director, Veterinary Medicine and Allied Products Directorate, NAFDAC made this known during the launch of Lifeline herbicide at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan.

World Sickle Cell Day is observed on 19 June every year to spread awareness about sickle cell disease, its preventive measures and their families go through. The day is celebrated with the help of Government, non-government organisations and various Health agencies. The theme for the 47th Annual National Convention is "Sickle Cell Community Embracing Change Together".

There has been an alarm over the high rate of malnutrition among children in Kwara state. According to the National Nutrition Health Survey (NNHS), Kwara state has under 5 mortality rate of 45 deaths per 1000 live births and an infant mortality rate of 40 per 1,000 live births.
