The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has advised the Federal Government for an extension in the lockdown ending 27th April 2020, ahead of the imminent review of the lockdown imposed by the President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT.
The association claimed the more the lockdown the more the spread of the virus will be contained. Also the need for fair distribution of relief materials to help reduce the effect of restriction and hardship caused to Nigerians.
But the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ( NACCIMA), the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), and Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director-General (LCCI) DG, and the Senate Minority leader has disagreed to any further extension of the lockdown in the nation.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, revealed on today 26th April 2020 that the state is yet to reach its COVID-19 peak despite recording the highest case so far.
The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has stated that only the President of the Federation can decide whether the lockdown would be lifted or extended.
