Nigeria has on Saturday recorded 220 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the country's total to 2388, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said. In a tweet, the NCDC said Lagos State recorded the highest number of new infections with 62, followed by FCT with 52, while Kaduna recorded 31 and Sokoto had 13 cases.
Other states with new infections include Kebbi with 10, Yobe had 9, Borno recorded 6, Edo and Bauchi had 5 each, Gombe, Enugu and Oyo had 4 cases each. Also, Zamfara recorded 3 new cases while, Nasarawa, Osun, Ebonyi, Kwara, Kano and Plateau recorded 2 cases each.
However, 385 people have recovered and since been discharged, while the country's death toll stands at 85.
Similarly, the NCDC has issued an advisory on the use of cloth face masks, saying it must be used alongside other containment measures.
The measures are regular handwashing with soap under running water for at least 20 seconds, physical /social distancing of at 2 metres, frequent cleaning of surfaces with soap, water and disinfectants, avoidance of large or mass gatherings.
The Advisory note also explained that the cloth face mask can act as a barrier between a person and possible droplets from others, however, it cannot protect the user from the COVID-19 virus.
