The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to undertake a critical self-evaluation of the performance of its elected officials at both federal and state levels. A major summit, taking place today at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, will place the Tinubu administration and APC-governed states under scrutiny, marking the administration’s two-year milestone. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to reaffirm commitment to his Renewed Hope Agenda (RHA) and highlight the administration’s bold reform initiatives. His address will set the tone for the summit, which is unprecedented in the APC’s 11-year history. Key sectors to be reviewed include Health and Social Welfare, Infrastructure, Finance and the Economy, as well as Internal Security. The event aims to measure government achievements against campaign promises and serve as a comprehensive mid-term evaluation of the administration’s policies and programmes.
The summit is expected to host over 2,500 participants, including members of the Federal Executive Council, governors, ministers, special advisers, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, as well as former governors, legislators, and party leaders led by APC National Chairman Alhaji Umar Ganduje. Heads of federal agencies will also be in attendance.
Sources suggest former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo may play an active role in the proceedings.
Notable speakers will include Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Progressives Governors Forum Chairman Hope Uzodimma, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, and Ganduje.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris will provide an overview, while ministers Muhammad Ali Pate (Health), Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (Interior), Dave Umahi (Works), and Olawale Edun (Finance) will present progress reports from their respective ministries.
NSA Ribadu will brief on ongoing efforts against insurgency and banditry, while Hadiza Bala-Usman is slated to deliver a presentation on policy development.
A panel discussion to evaluate the ministers' presentations will feature Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, and Senator Binta Masi Garba.
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed last night that this summit is the first of its kind in the party’s history.
