Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, has revealed that there was “tension” between him and Sadio Mane when they played together at the Premier League club. Salah revealed this during an interview with France Football. The Egyptian international was frequently accused of not passing ball to Mane most times by fans.
Consequently, the perceived rivalry between the two legends was thrashed at the international level, as Mane’s Senegal beat Salah’s Egypt to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
When asked, “Yes, there was tension with Sadio,” Salah said.
“Mind you, we were professional until the end; I don’t think it affected the team.
“It’s human to want more; I understand that; he’s a competitor. Off the pitch, we weren’t very close, but we always respected each other.”
Salah however insisted that he paid less attention to nay Sayers that suggesting had been “selfish” while playing alongside Mane.
“People can think what they want; it’s their right. But I invite everyone to note that the person who provided Mané with the most assists is me,” he concluded.
