Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed midfielder Emre Can will miss the rest of the 2017-18 season. The Germany international has been sidelined with a back problem recently. Amid rumours he was set to miss the rest of the campaign, Klopp was asked by Sky Sports whether Can's term was over.

If you were a fan of Nigerian football in the early 1980s, you would remember Tunji Banjo, John Chidozie and John Orlando.

They were among the first generation of “professionals” — as foreign-based players were called at the time — to play for the national team, then called the “Green Eagles” before they were rechristened “Super Eagles” by the military government in 1988.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were hammered 8-0 by France senior women’s national team in an international friendly game played inside the MMArena in Le Mans, France on Friday. The friendly is part of preparations for the Falcons ahead of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers. It was new Swedish coach Thomas Dennerby’s first game with the main team of the Super Falcons.
