Lagos State Sports Commission is to organise an international friendly netball match between Bringing Netball Back (BNB) of Nigeria and Accra Golden Maidens of Ghana, as part of the activities to mark Nigeria’s 57th Independence anniversary. The competition is scheduled to hold on Oct. 1 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun, Stadium, Lagos.

Former Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand says Chelsea playmaker, Eden Hazard could be a 'cheat' for Chelsea like Christiano Ronaldo was for Manchester United. Speaking with BT Sports after Chelsea defeated Atletico Madrid, the former defender said Hazard's contribution to the success of the club had not left anybody in doubt as to his quality. He explained that Hazard is always a threat to opponents and usually puts fantastic performance when introduced.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says Botswana Referee, Joshua Bondo will handle the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Zambia in Uyo on October 7. In a statement on Wednesday by its Communications Department, NFF said world football-ruling body FIFA appointed Bondo who has 10 years of international experience alongside two of his countrymen.

Bayern Munich have sacked Carlo Ancelotti after Wednesday’s shocking defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions league. The 58-year-old has been relieved of his duties after just one full season in charge of the German side as a result of their defeat in France and replaced him with Willy Sagnol as interim manager.  The German champions were humbled 3-0 in their Champions League clash in Paris, and the Italian coach came under criticism for leaving Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Mats Hummels out of the starting eleven.

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda has said the Chipolopolo will not let their doubleheader win over Algeria make them overconfident ahead of their October clash with Nigeria in Uyo. Zambia head into this match on the back of a 3-1 home and 1-nil away victories over Algeria in September.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to snatch a 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid on Wednesday with the last kick of the game. The result took Antonio Conte’s side top of Champions League Group C. France international Antoine Griezmann rammed a penalty kick beyond former Atletico goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to give the home side a barely-deserved lead in the 40th minute.
