Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye has disclosed that the home-based Super Eagles will travel by road to Cotonou on Friday ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship playoffs first leg qualifier against Benin Republic.  Ibitoye who made the disclosure during an interview with Complete Sports stated that the team will depart Kano by air to Lagos before proceeding to Cotonou by road. He, however, did not give reasons why the team will embark on a road trip for the encounter.

Chelsea Football Club owner and Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich and his third wife, Dasha Zhukova, have separated, the couple announced in a statement.  They have spent ten years together and have two children “After 10 years together, the two of us have made the difficult decision to separate, but we remain close friends, parents, and partners in the projects we developed together,” the two said in a statement sent to AFP Monday by Abramovich’s spokesman John Mann.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, says Mezut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are unlikely to be fit for their first league game of the season.  However, SportsMail that Per Mertesacker will be fit for the game after suffering a nasty cut to the head when caught by an accidental elbow from Gary Cahill during the Community Shield win over Chelsea.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in the Real Madrid squad to face Manchester United in UEFA Super Cup clash in Macedonia on Tuesday. The FIFA Player of the Year had been a doubt for the match having missed most of the Champions League winners' pre-season campaign.
Ronaldo captained Portugal to the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia in July and was given an extended break.
