Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will not leave Emirate during the January transfer window as widely reported. Wenger disclosed this on Tuesday in a chat with Sky Sports. Asked if the players will remain in Arsenal beyond January he said;
"Yes, of course. That is what we said many times." On whether they will sign new contract the manager said "I am not the only one who can decide that. They have a part to play in that as well but, if it is my decision, yes."
He added that the club have ruled out the possibility of selling the players.
"Yes, I rule it out. I do not think every day about that. At the moment I think, as long as they are here, they have to give their best for the team and for the club. In my head, they stay until the end of the season. That was the decision taken at the start of the season - unless something unbelievable happens, I don't think it should change.
"They are going into the final year of their contract. Will they stay longer? That is impossible to answer today but they have a contract until the end of the season."
The two players will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign after refusing to sign new deal. Sanchez was close to joining Manchester City or Paris Saint Germain last summer. The deal however failed on the last day after Arsenal failed to secure a replacement.
Meanwhile, bookmakers are waiting to see if the pair will renege on their earlier decision and remain in the club.
