Real Madrid will be without goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois when they face Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday. Courtois who had been sidelined with sciatica he felt since the last FIFA break did not train with the squad this Friday, and head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the Belgium international will not feature.
Courtois was aiming to return from his injury this weekend and even coach Carlo Ancelotti was very optimistic about his chances of defending Madrid’s goal in El Clasico. However, it looks like the pain in Courtois’ back isn’t gone yet and that he will need more time to heal before he can play again.
Former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea goalie, Andriy Lunin will be Courtois’ replacement. Also, centre-back Antonio Rudiger will be wearing a mask after sustaining a head injury during the Champions League draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.
