Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will be returning to Liverpool on the final day of this Premier League campaign as he is being invited back by his successor, Arne Slot. At the end of last season, Klopp has not been back at Anfield since he left.
The German admits he did not want to return, so he does not jinx the Reds’ bid to become Premier League champions.
The Reds have exceeded all expectations in Slot’s first season in England.
Liverpool is currently occupying a 13 points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table and are set to be crowned champions.
During a fundraiser in Cape Town this week Klopp said, “Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool] but not on the bus, I will be there with the people I saw on the bus”.
“That’s the idea to be honest, but we will see. I think I will be there for the last game.
“I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it all the time. But If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose, ‘oh f*** sake’. So I go there when it’s decided.”
