FIFA has ban CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad, for the next five years for over-involvement in corruption. The World Football Governing body disclosed this in a statement today.
Since March 2017, Ahmad has been a CAF president and was nursing an ambition to stand for another election when FIFA band him on governance-related issues.
According to FIFA, Ahmad has breached his loyalty threshold through involvement in the abuse of office through mismanagement of funds, and offering of gifts while serving as the CAF president.
He was also fined 200,000 Swiss franc equivalent of 220,000 USD by FIFA for his offense which was; “the organization and financing of an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca,” and his involvement in CAF’s dealings with a sports equipment company.
