The FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy is scheduled to arrive the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Thursday. This is ahead of the forthcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament. The tour of World Cup Trophy is per tradition of football tournaments, as same was done 13 months ago with the FIFA World Cup (for men).
Nigeria’s Osaze Odemwingie alongside three FIFA officials; Nicole Fisch, Sarai Bareman, and Vanessa Marques will arrive Abuja today, where they would be welcomed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, Thursday morning at Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
According to The Sun, the Trophy would be displayed after a brief video on the journey of women’s football in Nigeria. Also, fans and would be allowed to take photographs with the trophy.
Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) including the Acting President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, Chairman of the Women Football League, Aisha Falode are expected to attend the event.
