Victor Osimhen has won the Best African International award at the 5th edition of the Ghana football award. The Super Eagles striker was announced the winner at the awards held in the capital city of Ghana, Accra International Conference Center on Sunday.
The 24-year-old won the award after a very tight competition from Mohammed Salah of Egypt, and Riyad Mahrez who won a treble with Manchester City.
Osimhen helped Napoli win the 2022/23 Serie A title, their first since the 1989-1990 season.
He scored 26 goals in the Italian topflight to become the first-ever African to achieve the feat.
He was named Serie A Best Striker for the just concluded campaign.
Also, he scored two goals as the Super Eagles beat Sierra Leone 3-2 to qualify for the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
