Barcelona FC’s centre-back, Gerard Pique has announced his retirement from football, adding that his last game would be Barcelona’s match against Almeria on Saturday at Camp Nou. The 35 year old player disclosed this announcement in a video posted on his official social media page.
He said, “Football has given me everything. Barcelona has given me everything. You, culers (Barcelona fans), have given me everything. And now that this kid’s dreams have come true, I want to tell you that I’ve decided that now is the time to bring this journey to its end”.
Pique is a three-time Champions League winner and an eight-time La Liga champion with his long time club, Barcelona FC, he also won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2012 UEFA Euro with his home country, Spain and retired from the national team after the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
He married popular international musician, Shakira and has 2 kids with the Colombian-born singer and song writer.
