Rodri, midfielder for Manchester City has clinched the prestigious 2024 Ballon d’Or, triumphing ahead of Real Madrid stars Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.
Speaking at the award ceremony which was held on Monday in Paris, the Spanish player said his persistence to follow his football career path has now been rewarded football’s highest individual accolade.
Among the 29 honorees for football’s most outstanding performers, Nigeria’s AdemolaLookman was the only African featured on the list and ranked 14th.
Others are Harris Kane of Bayern Munich ranked 10th, Lamile Yamal of Barcelona FC ranked 8th and also won the Kopa trophy, KylianMbappe of France and Real Madrid was listed 6th on the list while ErlingHaaland of Manchester City FC and Dani Carvajal of Real Madrid were ranked 5th and 6th respectively.
