Former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amechi has taunted the immediate Managing Director of the Nigerian Port Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, for peddling a false narrative in her book titled “Stepping on Stones”: my odyssey at the Nigerian port Authority, as a book full of lies. Hadiza has in that her book described how she overcomes adversaries to emerge as the managing Director of the NPA.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally approved the new wage award of the N35,000 he promised federal civil servant to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal his government withdrawn. According to the report, the new pay will be effective September 1st, 2023 as circulated through the office of the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, CEO of National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Ekpo U.O Nta.

Leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has revealed that it will hold a meeting today with its organ to decide the fate of the earlier scheduled industrial action as federal Government awarded a N25,000 provisional wage increase for Nigerian average workers for the next six months. President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero made this known during an interview with state house correspondents yesterday shortly after it concluded meeting with a federal government delegation lead by the Chief of Staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Minister of Works and housing, Dave Umahi has apologises to the ministry workers for locking them out yesterday. There was a protest yesterday at the ministry of works premises at Mabushi, Abuja when the minister directed that late comers should be locked out of the premises for reporting late for work. The minister got to his office ahead of some senior officials of the ministry where he directed that all late comers should be locked out and be denied access to their respective offices.

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it has not negotiated any meeting with the federal government that may lead to the averting of the pending industrial action that has already being pencilled to commenced on Tuesday, 2nd October, 2023. This is coming as all is set for the NLC, TUC across the country to fully comply with the directive of proceeding on with industrial action as proposed by the NLC to press home their demand with the federal government over subsidy removal.
