The organised Labour has yesterday insisted that come September 28, there is no going back on the industrial action unless the federal Government cave to their demand of reverting back the fuel and electricity prices to status co. The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) and the Trade union Congress (TUC) reiterated their position while having an expanded consultation with the federal government representatives at the Old Banquet Hall of the state House, Abuja.

The Joint Health Sector Unions has suspended its seven-day warning strike and directed its members nationwide to resume on Monday. According to JOHESU the decision was made following a meeting of the union's National Executive Council (NEC) which was held on Sunday. By the directive, all health workers under the five unions that made up the JOHESU and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations are expected to return to work across all the Federal Health Institutions in the country. In a statement signed by JOHESU's national chairman, Biobelemoye Josiah, the union said it suspended the industrial action not because it demands have been resolved by the government but to "sustain" the running of Nigeria's public health systems.

The United States has shown a commitment to review the immigrant visa ban placed on Nigerians earlier in the year as a result of the country's failure to comply with its established identity-management and information-sharing criteria. Speaking after the inaugural US/Nigeria Consular Forum meeting in Abuja yesterday, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mustapha Suleiman, mentioned that the US was satisfied with the government's rate of meeting its demands, particularly in the area of information sharing. Suleiman said Nigeria has satisfied almost 90 percent of the requirements set by the US government, adding that the forum will serve as a platform where both countries can progress on bilateral relations and address issues for the benefits of citizens.

The National Industrial Court (NIC) had ordered members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to immediately call off its industrial action that had commenced since 7th September 2020 which was initiated to drive home its demand for the government to meet its request among others, unpaid salaries, non-payment of hazard allowances, and the dearth of Personal Protective Equipment in hospitals earlier made in June this year.

Organised labour under the auspices of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has issued the federal government a seven-day ultimatum to immediately reverse the sudden hike in prices of electricity, petrol and all other social services in the country to status quo failure of which it will embark on an indefinite industrial action and national protest commencing from Wednesday, September 23, 2020. The organised labour said that it had just concluded a meeting of its organs where it resolved to issue the strike ultimatum. This comes as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) meets tomorrow over the same issue. In a letter dated September 14, President and Secretary-General of TUC, Quadri Olaleye and Musa Lawal, respectively, insisted that Nigerians could no longer bear the burden of harsh and anti-poor policies.

Nigerian lawyers are agitated with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and are calling for the NBA to strip him of his SAN title. The Minister sometimes last week allegedly amended the Rules of Professional Conduct for legal practitioners (RPC) without consultation. The AGF was said to have removed the requirement requiring lawyers to append their stamp and seal to all documents submitted for the court process.
