The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has mentioned on Thursday that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved for Nigeria to take loans. According to the former Governor of Rivers State, the loans are targeting infrastructural development in many parts of the country. The minister explained that when crude oil was sold at $120 per barrel, the total amount needed to develop the railway across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was between $35billion to $40billion.

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has said that the country’s whistle-blower policy has to be expanded to protect those, who expose corrupt practices, gross mismanagement and acts inimical to public health and safety from backlash and reprisals. The Vice President made the call during a virtual National Conference on Whistleblower Policy on Tuesday in Abuja. Osinbajo noted that the Federal Government's whistle-blower policy was developed as a tool for the exposure of corruption and corrupt actors in Government and to validate controls and ensuring compliance with public finance management principles.

Power Distribution Companies in Nigeria have yesterday said they are yet to receive any directive from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) over tariff suspension entered into by the labor and the Federal government. Findings revealed that the DisCos are confused about the agreement reached by the Federal government and the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) while negotiating strike suspension yesterday.

On Monday, The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) disclosed that it had discovered a whopping N2.67 billion meant for school feeding in federal colleges during the COVID-19 lockdown in some individual’s personal accounts. This was disclosed by The Chairman of ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasonye at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during his keynote address at the 2nd National Summit on Diminishing Corruption titled: “Together Against Corruption and Launch of the National Ethics and Integrity Policy”. Owasonye said N2.5 billion was discovered in the account a senior civil servant (presently deceased) in the Ministry of Agric for himself and his accomplices.

The 36 state Governors in Nigeria have dragged the federal government to Supreme Court demanding the court to set aside the Presidential Executive Order no. 00-10 of 2020 which Mr. President signed on May 22, 2020, on the funding of Courts.
