In commemoration of this year’s international Students Day, the African Students Education Support Initiative (ASESI) has called on African leaders to invest more in creating modern academic environment for students. ASESI’s Executive Director, Mr Chinonso Obasi, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, regretted that the current learning environment found across Africa would not produce graduates who could be globally competitive.
Mr. Gbadebowale Wayne Aboderin, the chairman of Punch newspapers is dead. He was 60 years old.
His death was announced today by the newspaper.
The newspaper said Aboderin died early today after a heart surgery at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The wife of former Minster of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Precious, has delivered a set of triplets on Friday, same day she is marking her birthday.

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) says it will begin an indefinite nationwide strike by midnight on Tuesday.
Josiah Biobelemoye, president of the union, announced this when he led the union executive on a courtesy visit to Jafaru Momoh, chief medical director of the National Hospital, Abuja.
He alleged that Isaac Adewole, minister of health, had been treating the union members as slaves.
The Bayelsa government has suspended and stopped the salaries of 3,403 workers in the ongoing public service reforms.
The Head of Service of Bayelsa, Rev Thomas Zidafomo, directed that salaries of 222 staff of Bayelsa owned media houses and 3,181 non-teaching staff in the State Universal Basis Education Board (SUBEB) be suspended.
Zidafomo in a letter dated Apri 6, 2018 directed that the withheld salaries of the affected workers listed as ‘excess workers’ be remitted to the Accountant General of Bayelsa.
