The niece of Pauline Talen, Minister of Women Affairs has been abducted by unknown gunmen at Rantiya Lowcost in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. A relative while confirming the incident to Daily Trust said the victim named Dapit Karen was kidnapped at about 5 am at their residence while they slept.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has thrown its weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent directive to security agencies to shoot any unauthorized person at sight found carrying an assault rifle. The President issued the order as a step to arrest the ugly trend of insecurity emanating from terrorism and kidnapping which threatens to consume the country, especially the northern region. Buhari has given an executive order to security men, directing them to go into all bushes suspected to be harbouring the criminal elements and kill any unauthorised person found carrying Ak-47 or any related assault rifle.
President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmed Lawan, has alleged that drug barons in the country are responsible for funding terrorism and banditry. Lawan made this allegation when the recently appointed chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohammed Buba Marwa paid him a courtesy call yesterday in his office. The Senate president alleges that proceeds from the illegal drugs trade are used in exchange for arms and ammunition by terrorist groups like Boko Haram, bandits and kidnappers.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has vowed that he will ensure the killers of Chief Terkura Suswam, elder brother to the Senator representing Benue North East, Senator Gabriel Suswam are apprehended and brought to justice. Rampaging suspected bandits have struck again this time kidnapping about fifty passengers travelling along the Tegina-Minna road in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, on Tuesday. The incident happened when the three commercial vehicles conveying passengers, including the drivers ran into the roadblock at Kundu, few kilometres from Zungeru town, set up by the bandits. The vehicles conveying the kidnapped victims who have been taken to an unknown location were abandoned along the road.
