Alhaji Mode Senchi, kidnapped Chief Imam of Senchi in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi state, has been released.
The Police Command in Kebbi State confirmed the release of the Imam who was kidnapped on March 18.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Kabiru, made the confirmation while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that female suicide bombers detonated explosives at the Muna area of Maiduguri, on Friday, in an attempt to infiltrate the town.
According to reports, four heavy explosions occurred between 9: 00 and 9: 30 pm, sending terrifying echoes to many parts of the town.
NEMA’s Northeast Zonal Coordinator, Mr Bashir Garga, disclosed that the suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies behind the security trench at Muna Garage area, in the outskirts of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
The Nigerian Navy on Thursday said it has discovered six new illegal refineries with combined capacity to refine four million litres of crude oil daily in Alakiri, Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers. Gunmen believed to be cattle thieves killed 15 herders in the latest bout of violence in northern Nigeria’s herding communities, police and a local official said Thursday. “Armed bandits attacked Bawon-Daji village yesterday and killed 15 people,” the police spokesman for Zamfara state, Muhammad Shehu, told AFP.
The Nigeria Customs Service, Sokoto state Command said it has intercepted a truck load of 525 bags of smuggled rice believed to be in the region of about N11m. The Customs Area Comptroller in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, Mr. Mr. Nasir Ahmed made this known while briefing newsmen yesterday in Sokoto.
The Nigeria Customs Service has arrested four suspects in Sokoto who allegedly smuggled 589 bags of imported rice concealed in a petrol tanker.
The Comptroller of NCS in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara Command, Mr. Nasir Ahmad, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Sokoto.
Ahmad said the smuggled items, which were intercepted on Sunday along Koko-Yauri road in Kebbi State, had N11.1m Duty Paid Value.
