Following reports that some soldiers absconded with millions, the Nigerian Army in a statement has revealed that it has commenced an investigation into the matter. The Army gave the names of the runaway soldiers as Cpl. Gabriel Oluwaniyi, Cpl. Mohammed Aminu, LCpl. Commander Haruna, LCpl. Oluji Joshua, and LCpl. Hayatudeen.

In a ruling by Justice Yusuf Birnin-Kudu of Jigawa State High Court has on 28th June 2019 sentenced a Deputy Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Auwal Jibrin, to six years in jail. The convict was arraigned before the court over unlawful enrichment, collecting gratification and breach of trust.
