A Cameroonian soldier on Monday reportedly killed a Nigerian fisherman from the border community of Mfum in Cross River State. Punch quoted a resident of Mfum, Alan Bassey as saying that the incident occurred on February 25 at a river along the border. He added that two other fishermen were injured.
Several people were reported injured after a clash between youths belonging to two different religious groups in Kasuwa Magani village in Kaduna State.
The clash which broke out on Sunday was said to have snowballed into a crisis between the groups, leading to the burning of houses and destruction of other valuables in the area in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
An indigene of the area told Channels Television that the cause of the crisis has to do with an alleged romantic relationship and eventual forceful conversion of some girls to a particular religion by some boys from another faith.
Operatives of Operation Delta Safe, ODS, formerly code named Joint Task Force, JTF, on Sunday announced the destruction of over 30 illegal refineries in Yeye community, Burutu Local Government Area Delta State. Navy Captain Adewuyi Festus who disclosed this to newsmen this while the operation was ongoing, said the security body will not rest until the illicit act was flushed out of the state, stressing that they will continue to hunt for oil thieves and vandals in the region.
The location of the recently abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi has been revealed. Dailytrust quoted a credible source as saying that half of the schoolgirls have been ferried across the border into Niger Republic. The report said the girls were split into two groups; one was left in an enclave in northern Borno State and the other taken to a village in Niger Republic.
The names of schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls' Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, by suspected Boko Haram terrorists has been released. Recall that following an attack on the school by Boko Haram last week, some schoolgirls were declared missing with reports claiming that some of the victims were later rescued by the military. However, moments after, the state government in another statement said none of the girls was rescued by the military.
South Africa’s top court on Friday reinstated a 24 year prison sentence for Henry Okah convicted of a series of terror attacks in Nigeria eight years ago. Okah was jailed in 2013 for masterminding a number of attacks, including twin bombings which killed 12 people in the Nigerian capital Abuja during Independence Day celebrations in 2010.
