The United States of America has commended efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria in combating human trafficking. The commendation saw Nigeria being upgraded to tier 2 watch lists in the 2019 US trafficking in person report.

Following concerted efforts by men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), less than 24 hours after his abduction, the son of Nigeria's former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has been released. Reports indicate the arrest of a quack doctor employed by Adamawa State Government who was alleged to have caused the death of Over 15 patients.
