Some of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents at Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe have been rescued by the army.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, Director General to Yobe governor on Press affairs, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday.

“The Yobe State Government hereby informs the public that some of the girls at Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC) whose school was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists last Monday have been rescued by gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army from the terrorists who abducted them.

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said it recovered a sophisticated rifle displayed for sale in Taraba state by a yet-to-be arrested gun-runner. The Army in a statement issued to newsmen by Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director Army Public Relations said the rifle was recovered during a patrol operation by troops of 93 Battalion. The former Minister of Education and Co-Convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Group (BBOG) Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to reports of alleged abduction of 94 girls from the Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe state by Boko Haram on Monday.

Barely one week after Boko Haram released three University of Maiduguri lecturers earlier abducted during an oil exploration exercise in the state, a suicide bomber on Monday evening struck close to one of the hotels in the University. According to the Cable, the attack took place around 7:50pm.

No fewer than 22 persons were killed and 28 others injured in a multiple suicide bomb attack at a market in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred on Friday at about 9:00 PM, when three suicide bombers detonated explosives at the “Kasuwar Kifi” in the outskirts of Konduga town.

Some suspected herdsmen on Thursday butchered a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, identified as Daniel Malu in Jos, Plateau state. Malu, 58, whose last office was ‘A’ Division in Jos, was killed in his Dorowa residence, in the Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
