The Kebbi state Government, on Sunday confirmed the release of 30 kidnapped students of Federal Government College, Kebbi state, who have been in captivity in the hands of bandits for about six months. The good news confirmed in a statement by media aide to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Malam Yahaya Sarki said they would undergo medical screening and other supports before they would be re-united with members of their families. They arrived Birnin Kebbi, the state capital yesterday after being released by their abductors.
Recall that bandits kidnapped more than 30 students and staff members from the Federal Government College in June last year, and later released their photographs after one week as well as demanded for a huge ransom.
The state government in the statement praised security agencies and others who assisted in securing the release of the victims for their effort.
The government also congratulated and applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of the FGC students.
