As state Governors are collecting more money from the federation account in this administration of president Bola Tinubu, former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Dr Danladi Bako has called on the Nigerian Journalists to focus their searchlight towards state Governors in the country. The former NBC Boss made the call yesterday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN in Abuja.

After the collapse of a two-story building on Friday morning in Ebute Meta Lagos State, the Emergency responders have recovered the bodies of two middle-aged persons, a man and a woman, from the rubbles. This was revealed by the Lagos Territorial Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Farinloye said that a two-story building with a penthouse collapsed at about 0930 hours along Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute Metta.

The Army Council has approved the promotion of 47 Brigadier Generals including its Spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu to the rank of Major General and 75 Colonels elevated to the rank of Brigadier General. This was contained in a statement made available to Defence Correspondents in the early hours of Friday in Abuja by General Nwachukwu.

The Federal Government says it acknowledged the impact of the insecurity challenges facing the country and promises to end the menace before the end of year 2024. This was made known by the State Minister of Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, during an interview with BBC Hausa. Matawalle revealed that the government was adopting a new strategy by being proactive instead of the normal combat with bandits, now they neutralised them before they struck, particularly in the troubled North. 

A High Court sitting in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has ordered that an immediate past Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, of former President Buhari administration be barred from holding any public office unless she, within 30 days, apologises publicly for disrespecting a court. The court, presided over by Justice U.P. Kekemeke made this judgement that the injunction might become perpetual if Tallen, by any act of omission or commission refused to apologise within the time stipulated to her by the court. 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara state command, as part of its proactive steps, has deployed over 2,500 personnel across the state to forestall the breakdown of law and order before, during and after the yuletide season.
