A High Court sitting in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has ordered that an immediate past Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, of former President Buhari administration be barred from holding any public office unless she, within 30 days, apologises publicly for disrespecting a court. The court, presided over by Justice U.P. Kekemeke made this judgement that the injunction might become perpetual if Tallen, by any act of omission or commission refused to apologise within the time stipulated to her by the court. 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara state command, as part of its proactive steps, has deployed over 2,500 personnel across the state to forestall the breakdown of law and order before, during and after the yuletide season.

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has disagreed with those describing Nigeria as failed state, instead said, Nigeria is not yet a “failed” state but a “failing” state. However, he suggested that to rescue the country before it actually becomes a failed state as some people are describing it, Jega said that something urgent must be done to restructure the country before the 2027 general elections. 

The Supreme Court has today during the trial of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Agitator, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has declined the Appeal Court order to his release him from detention, as instead order his retrial. 
The panel of justices of the court on Friday nullified the earlier order of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which ordered Kanu’s release on bail in October last year ordered Kanu’s release and quashed the terrorism charges against him.

The ECOWAS Court of Justice yesterday struck out a suit by a Nigerian, Richard Ugbah, praying the court to order the United States government to allow him to complete his jail sentence in Nigeria.

The National Population Commission, NPC, has yesterday in Akwa Ibom state launched its 2023-24 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey Exercise, as the chairman promised that soon the general exercise would kick start by next year. The Chairman, National Population Commission, Mr. Nasir Isa Kwarra, stated this while performing the ceremony of rebuilding Akwa ibom state office, assuring that NPC would deliver a credible and reliable, population census that would be acceptable to all Nigerians in the country.
