President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesman, who announced this in a statement on Wednesday, said the appointment is effective from March 1, 2024.

He said: “We have now entered into a new cycle of leadership. Some new governors have come on board, while some are having their second term and still, we are faced with these insecurity issues.

Umbrella body of Nigerian lawyers , Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on the issue of insecurity in the country at the threat has continued unabated.
According to the lawyers, “what Nigerians require is a well thought-out, informed, all-inclusive and purposeful intervention, with as much necessary information made available to the public as made be dictated or permitted by the security situations from time to time.”

The Nigerian Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Abuja, has confirmed the arrest of seven notorious kidnappers and the recovery of N9 million cash collected as ransom. The police commissioner in FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, while parading the suspects at the command on Wednesday, said the wanted kidnappers were arrested by operatives of the Utako police division led by CSP Victor Godfrey in a coordinated operation at Tudun –Wada Lugbe and Pyakasa area of Trademore. They were identified as Usman Muazu from Kwali, FCT, Aliyu Mohammed, from Pumpomare area of Borno state, Awwal Dahiru, who hails from Gwagwalada area council of the FCT, Rabi Sani, from Safana, Katsina state and Madina Abubakar, from Gulu, Lapai local government area of Niger state.
