The Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria and the United States (US) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the training of the commanders of the police Special Intervention Squad (SIS) which was launched to tackle the rising cases of kidnapping, banditry and other crimes plaguing Nigeria. The training programme was inaugurated on Monday by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun which is a collaboration with the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Philip Aivoji, who was abducted by yet-to-be-identified gunmen along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Thursday regained his freedom. The Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Hakeem Amode, while confirming the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday said Aivoji was released after spending four days with his abductors.

A private jet having about 10 persons onboard including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has overshot the Ibadan airport runway in the Oyo State capital. An impeccable source said the incident happened on Friday around 11 am at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport. The jet with registration number, N580KR, missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Thursday, warned the general public against spreading falsehood on the security challenges in Mangu Area of Plateau. The Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau handed down the warning a reaction to a viral video made by the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Mangu Chapter, Reverend Timothy Daluk accusing the military of being complacent or biased in handling the crisis that erupted on 23 January 2024 in Magu general area in Plateau State.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has stated that the explosion that occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at a refuse dump outside the office of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) in Maitama, Abuja was not a bomb explosion as alleged on social media. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
