The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has banned the use of Point of Sale (POS) machines and other electronic mobile money transaction devices within the premises of police stations and facilities across the country. This was made known in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, which stated that the development was a result of “public outcry on alleged illegal and illicit transactions through POS machine operators and connivance with certain police operatives”.

A United Kingdom-based Nigerian researcher, Yunusa Jibrin, has revealed his newest innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool having the capacity to recognize terrorists irrespective of their location in Nigeria. Jibrin stated that if his findings are been adopted by the federal government, would help to direct the efforts of the military toward identifying and eliminating bandits wherever they may be hiding in the country. Being a Master’s degree graduate in computer science from the University of Sussex, Jubrin in an interview with Vanguard on Sunday that he leveraged AI-driven image synthesis to generate thousands of visual representations depicting bandits in desert environments.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has charged telecom operators to bar any active mobile line that is not linked to NIN on or before February 28, 2024. This was even as it said the same codes were introduced for mobile lines in order to authenticate and protect the identities of users.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria on Wednesday, reported that Tower 70 along its 330kV Gwagwalada-Katampe line was vandalized, leaving it in a precarious state. The development was revealed by the company's General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, who said in a statement occurred on the 26th of February, 2024, at about 11.32 pm. “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) hereby states that Tower 70 along its 330kV Gwagwalada -Katampe Transmission line has been vandalized, with the tower standing precariously on the ground.
