The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has suspended with immediate effect the activities of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), a community policing initiative and public relations tool under the Force Public Relations Department of the NPF. This development was made known in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, which stated that this decision was reached in order to conduct a comprehensive review of the Unit and restructure it for improved efficiency and service delivery.

Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, converged in number and took to the streets of Abuja on Wednesday to protest the assassination of Iranian military officer Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi military leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis by the United States. This demonstration is in commemoration of the killing of its martyrs on 3rd January 20223 under the order of the former US President, Donald Trump. In registering their grieve, the Shi’ites comprising men and women, set ablaze the flags of the United States and Israel, symbolizing their disdain for the countries they hold responsible for the deaths of Soleimani and al-Muhandis, whom they described as ‘global martyrs’.

Following the air crashes incidences in Nigerian aviation sector, the Chief of the Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has approved the implementation of a Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy, GPAIP, for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, personnel. The Director, Public Relations and Information of NAF, AVM Edward Gabkwet, disclosed this in a statement today Wednesday in Abuja.

The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Hon Safiyanu Isa Andaha, and his political godfather Adamu Umar Custom who were kidnapped on New Year's Day have regained their freedom. It was gathered reliably that the sum of N10m was paid to the kidnappers after the initial demand of N50m which was negotiated before they were released.
Spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the release to Channels TV on Wednesday said Andaha and the three others were released about 8:45 PM on Tuesday in Andaha village, Akwanga local government area.

Traders at the Police Officers’ Wives Association Shopping Complex in the Computer Village, Ikeja area of Lagos counted their losses following the demolition of the complex on Sunday. It was gathered that the demolition took place in the early hours of Sunday with armed security operatives supervising the operation. The Chairman of, Computer Dealer Association, in Computer Village, Tayo Shittu, said the demolition began around 12 am. Shittu said, “Around 12 am, I was called that about 300 policemen had stormed our plaza with up to three bulldozers that they were bringing down our plaza. The whole plaza, Phase 1 and 2, has been brought down. We are talking of about 300 shops, more than 1000 occupants. In some shops, we have two, three or five people. “We are not feeling good at all. A lot of our members have traveled for the Christmas holidays. If at all it was supposed to happen, there must be a roundtable discussion. They just came suddenly and brought everything down.”
