A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Mallam Suleiman Salisu, has voiced strong disapproval over what he described as the hypocrisy of some former public officials who, despite poor records in office, are now quick to criticize the current administration. Addressing journalists in Kaduna Salisu took aim at former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, expressing concern over his public comments against the federal government. He accused El-Rufai of fueling division during his tenure and now turning around to condemn the outcomes of his own leadership.
According to Salisu, "Does it mean that Nigerians have forgotten in a hurry what the immediate former governor did while in office for a good eight years? Go to the other part of Kaduna metropolis, the southern part of the city, dominated by Christians. El-Rufai completely did nothing in the provision of infrastructure, construction of roads, and other social amenities as if they were not part of the metropolis."
He further questioned the former governor's silence during a period marked by widespread insecurity in the state, saying:
"As Nigerians, have we all forgotten during the years of the former governor when kidnapping in all parts of the state became the order of the day? Are you talking of going to Birnin Gwari from Kaduna, or are you talking of going to Kafanchan or Abuja? How many Nigerians were killed or kidnapped? Are you talking of many souls that were wasted in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, particularly in Atyap Chiefdom, and the governor did nothing to provide tangible solutions to the people?"
Lamenting what he described as El-Fufai's double standards, he added:
"Today, the former governor is everywhere speaking as a saint, condemning the present administration, and Nigerians believe that these are the type of politicians that want to come and take over their leadership of the country? What solution does El-Rufai and his people have to offer the country?"
Salisu urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and elect leaders with genuine intentions to resolve national issues rather than those driven by personal ambition and political theatrics. He emphasized that the country's current challenges demand sincere and competent leadership.
