The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, has faulted the directive of the Zamfara state governor urging his state residents to arm themselves for self-defence in the wake of banditry. Following the unabated banditry activities that have engulfed the state, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawale had yesterday urged Zamfara state residents to procure or acquire arms for self-defence against the bandits. Similarly, the Governor also directed the state Commissioner of police to facilitate the acquisition of the arms by residents through the prompt issuance of a licence to those who indicate interest and are qualified to bear the arms.

Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has signed an Executive Order for the compulsory installation and use of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) devices in all public and private institutions in the state. A statement issued yesterday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde, revealed that the order became imperative in the light of the increased spate of insecurity in the country owing to the state of insecurity and the need to ensure safety of lives and property in all public and private institutions and centres throughout the state.

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists had attacked the Maranatha Baptist Church and the St Moses Catholic Church both in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of 19th June 2022. The Spokesman for Defence Headquarters, Maj-Gen Bernard Onyeuko revealed on 16th June 2022 at the bi-weekly briefing that troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have neutralized forty-seven terrorists including the top commander of the Jama'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-jihad, Boko haram faction. More so rescuing Mary Dauda, reportedly one of the abducted Chibok school girls in 2014.
