The Police Service Commission may have concluded plans to promote a former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, to Assistant Inspector-General of Police. Magu, a Commissioner of Police, has tendered his pre-retirement notice and will officially retire from the force on May 5. The decision to promote Magu, the most senior Commissioner of Police, followed the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

A member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Stephanie Terungwa who was declared missing some days ago by the Abuja NYSC office has been discovered dead. The Microbiology student who disappeared on 4th April 2022 after leaving her abode at Lokogoma area of Abuja municipal area council dressed in the NYSC regalia could not return home. Mr. Richard Ilorami, who identifies as an uncle to the victim on his Facebook page claimed she was abducted together with her baby, but the child was later found.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has hatched plans to stage a three-day national protest against the ongoing strike by university workers. The protest could, however, snowball into a nationwide industrial action, if government’s inaction persists. The union revealed the above on Thursday, in a communiqué jointly signed by its President Mr. Ayuba Wabba, and its General Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ugboaja, at the end of the Congress’ Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Abuja. Vigil360 news had earlier reported that NLC called on the Federal Government to immediately set up a high-powered panel comprising members with requisite mandates to resolve within 21 days the issues affecting industrial harmony in the nation’s tertiary institutions including Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). 

Following the unabated insecurity in Zamfara state, the state Government has dethroned two Emirs and their district heads for aiding the activities of bandits who engages in terrorizing their communities. The two emirs are that of Zurumi, Abubakar Atku, and Emir of Dansadau, Hussaini Umar. Similarly, the district head of Tsaba, Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim was also relieved of his turban. The decision taken by the state government was made known through the state commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, which he intimated to newsmen shortly after the state council meeting.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Abdulganiyu Olola Jaji as the new Controller General (CG), Federal Fire Service (FFS) with effect from Friday, April 22nd, 2022. The appointment was disclosed in a statement by the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Immigration and Correctional Service Board (CDIPB), Mrs. Aisha Rufai on Tuesday in Abuja. According to Mrs. Rufai, Jaji will be taking over from Acting Controller General, Samson Karebo, who took up the mantle of leadership after former Controller General, Ibrahim Liman bowed out of service.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has today announced that its men have finally arrested a Drug Baron “Chief Afam Mallinson Emmanuel Ukatu”, Chairman of Mallinson Group, who has been on its wanted list. The Suspect is believed to be the Billionaire responsible for a drugs case that landed super cop, Abba Kyari in prison awaiting trial. According to a statement released by the Drug office through its Media Director, Femi Babafemi, Ukatu is behind the N3billion Tramadol deal involving Abba Kyari.
