The Nigerian Air Force revealed on Saturday that it had neutralized over 70 terrorists in the northern part of the country, at the border with Niger Republic. The Joint effort by the Air Components of Operation Hadin Kai and Nigerien Air Force under the Multinational Joint Task Force, also led to the killing of several key leaders of ISWAP in the Tunbuns including notorious Amir, Ibn Usman. A statement by NAF said that aircraft from both Nigeria and Niger had taken part in the operation. The aerial assault was led by the Nigerien Air Task Force at the Tumbun Rego axis in Borno State.

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Friday made a donation of N50 million to the Kaduna State Government for onward distribution to the victims of the recent Abuja – Kaduna train attack. A statement by Head of NGF Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, in Abuja on Friday, said that the forum Chairman and Governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, made the donation when he led a two-man delegation of the forum to Kaduna State. Mr Fayemi said that the delegation was in the state to commiserate with the government and people on the train attack which claimed lives, injured many people, while several others remain captives. Fayemi disclosed that the NGF delegation visited Kaduna State to commiserate with the government and people on the train attack which claimed lives and has left several others in captivity.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, has deployed the IGP Monitoring Unit and X-Squad to observe the activities of officers policing the highways during the Easter celebrations. The IGP via a statement by police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, says the deployment is aimed at ensuring respect for the rights of citizens and operational conformity with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Rules of Engagement (RoE) of the Force. The IGP also ordered all state Commissioners of Police (CPs) and their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to ensure adequate deployment of police personnel, and operational assets to areas of security interest within their respective areas of responsibility (AoRs). According to the statement, the Complaint Response Unit and the Public Complaint Bureau, have equally been charged to respond swiftly to complaints received from the general public.

President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted the Money Laundering Bill and Terrorism Prevention Bill to the Senate for expeditious consideration and passage. Both bills were accompanied by a letter dated 12 April 2022 and read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan at the start of the plenary on Thursday.

President Muhammadu Buhari administered the oath of office to new commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has unveiled a new uniform that will be added to its array of outfits which is expected to be worn by officers commencing from Tuesday 12th of April 2022. The uniform was unveiled on Friday by the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during an event. The Minister during the presentation stated that the uniform will be added to the current collection and would be worn every Tuesday.
