The Federal Government (FG) has approved the procurement of lie detector equipment and digital night vision goggles worth N1Bn to enhance the operational performance of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This was disclosed to State House correspondents on Wednesday by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami at the end of the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

A doctor working with the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), Joseph Kabungo has given up the ghost at the Moshood Abiola Stadium following the Qatar 2022 qualifier match where Super Eagles lost to the Black Stars in a game held on 29th March 2022. Kabungo a Zambian medical practitioner was the doping control officer for Nigeria vs Ghana match. Although circumstances beclouding his death is not fully ascertained as some said he died after violence erupted at the end of the match.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the Monday attack on a Kaduna-bound train by terrorists, leading to many deaths and injuries. He condemned the bombing of the passenger train, describing it as a “matter of grave concern.” The President on Tuesday said he was deeply pained by the attack, the second of its kind in recent times. Mr. President also mandated the immediate conclusion of all the processes for the implementation of the integrated security surveillance and monitoring solution for the Abuja to Kaduna railway line. The President who said this via a statement signed by presidential spokesperson Mallam Garba Shehu, also said the solution should be extended to cover the Lagos-Ibadan railway line.

The military authority has debunked the alleged attack on Kaduna International Airport, saying, the attack happened at a village six kilometres from the perimeter fencing of the airport. The military revealed after they received a distressed call, they pursued the criminals through airstrike and got 12 of them dead on the spot. Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, Garrison Commander 1 Div, Nigerian Army Brig-General Uriah Opuene and Air Force Base Commander, Air commodore Ademuyiwa Adedoyin told Journalist this while taking them on-the-spot assessment yesterday. 

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has suspended its services indefinitely along the Abuja-Kaduna route due to what they described as unforeseen circumstances. NRC made the above information public via a statement on its Twitter page on Tuesday 29th March, 2022. This is coming less than 24 hours after bandits blew up train rails and attacked the 6pm train heading to Kaduna from Abuja.

The National Population Commission (NPC) has on Monday announced that it will conduct a general census exercise this year, assuring an accurate, reliable, and credible exercise. In a statement, the Chairman, NPC, Mr. Nasir Kwarra made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the workshop on Census Management Training for Chairman and Honourable Federal Commissioners in Karu, Nasarawa State. He assured Nigerians that the commission is committed to conducting a census exercise that meets international standards with results acceptable to Nigerians as no stone will be left unturned.
