A member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Stephanie Terungwa who was declared missing some days ago by the Abuja NYSC office has been discovered dead. The Microbiology student who disappeared on 4th April 2022 after leaving her abode at Lokogoma area of Abuja municipal area council dressed in the NYSC regalia could not return home. Mr. Richard Ilorami, who identifies as an uncle to the victim on his Facebook page claimed she was abducted together with her baby, but the child was later found.
The statement reads, “My niece is missing; she was abducted with her one-year-old son after attending NYSC Community Development Service. Her Baby was later found but she still remains missing.”
The report has it that the missing corp member's body was later found at the Maitama area of Abuja.
Her Alma mater, the students Union disclosed that her vital organs were missing which corroborates the idea of her being abducted and therefore call on authorities to fish out her killers.
The SUG has yesterday issued a statement through its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Zaki Christian said, “Today (Wednesday), her body has been found lifeless; she was murdered in her corps uniform and all private parts removed. Relevant tests confirmed that the deformed corpse was hers.”
In a similar manner, the NYSC also released a statement through its Public Relation, Eddy Megwa that an investigation has commenced into the matter.
Megwa revealed, “A corpse was found wearing the NYSC khaki trousers with the face defaced beyond recognition.
“On account of this, the management reported the discovery to relevant security agencies to help identify the body. It was later confirmed that the remains were that of the missing corps member, Stephanie Se-Ember Terungwa, with state code number FC/21B/5807.
Meanwhile, “Investigations are, however, currently ongoing to unravel the identity of the perpetrators of the dastardly act in order to bring them to justice. May her soul rest in peace.”
