Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, claims that his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections is based on their 22-year relationship and the President's ambitious economic reforms. After meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Soludo told reporters that even though he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress, his support for Tinubu remains unwavering.
"Don't deny your friend," he added, adding that President Tinubu has been his friend for 22 years and counting. "I agree with him and find his audacious actions admirable, especially those about fundamental reforms and the economy. We must continue on our current path because we are making the correct decisions.
Tinubu is "in high spirits, hale and hearty," according to the governor, who also called on progressive political parties to unite in a wide coalition to advance social and economic advancement and bolster democracy.
Soludo stated that his administration had taken a comprehensive approach to Anambra security, using "kinetic and non-kinetic" tactics.
He pointed out that "deadly native doctors" who enticed young people into crime had been pushed out by the state's Homeland Security Law, which was passed in January.
He stated, "We're dealing with insecurity from the foundations." About 5,000 young people have been trained under our one-year skills and empowerment program, also 8,700 will receive funding this month or the following. In the first three years, we are producing thousands of young millionaires.
To address suffering and ensure long-term peace in the state, Soludo continued, the administration prioritized infrastructure, social investment, intelligence collection, and youth empowerment.
