The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, on Monday strongly cautioned against any planned protest in the state. This followed a public display of interest by some individuals and groups to protest and honour the lives of those lost during the last ENDSARS protests. A statement signed by the State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu, revealed that the command had received information of a planned protest to mark one year of the #EndSARS protest. The police boss promised that his officers would resist any of such protests. The statement reads: “Credible intelligence at the disposal of the Command has revealed clandestine plans by some youths, individuals, or groups to embark on protest today in commemoration of the first anniversary of ENDSARS. “Lagosians and indeed Nigerians cannot afford to relive the distasteful experience of last year's protest which caused pain, anguish, needless loss of lives, and wanton destruction of public and private property.
“In view of the volatility of the present situations in the country, and the breakdown of law and order which the planned protest might cause, the Lagos State Police Command sternly warns against any form of protest today.

A policeman sustained gunshot injuries on Friday during an exchange of fire after some unknown gunmen attacked the Aguobu Owa Police Station in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State. According to Vanguard, the gunmen stormed the police station in a black Toyota vehicle but met stiff resistance by the policemen on ground.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has appointed Echeng Eworo Echeng as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) of Anambra State, replacing CP Tony Olofu. Force PRO, CP Frank Mba made this known in a statement on Tuesday, saying the IGP also directed the deployment of the NPF Special Forces to Anambra State to complement the ongoing Operation Restore Peace by the Nigeria Police in the state.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, yesterday, confirmed the arrest of dozens of suspected members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ites who stormed the Gwarimpa area of the nation’s capital on Tuesday morning. The outlawed group was having a religious procession in the nation’s capital when they were intercepted by security to stop them because they had been causing “unnecessary hardship to motorists” along the Abuja-Kubwa expressway. In a statement by the police 57 of the members were after the members attacked the police with petrol bombs and stones. The Shi’ites had embarked on its annual Arbaeen Symbolic Trek causing tension and traffic gridlock on the Kubwa-Kaduna express on Tuesday.
