The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has set up a special task force to track down and dismantle drug syndicates responsible for the production and distribution of methamphetamine, popularly called Mkpurumiri in the South East region of the country.

Leader of the proscribe Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has engaged a popular constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), as the lead counsel representing him. Terrorists have slammed N24 million levies on nine communities in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State and demanded prompt payment or face assaults. The levied communities include Gaude, Tungar Gebe, Wawan Iccen Ibrahim, Wawan Iccen Salihu, Galle, Nannarki, Ruwan Kura, Gangara and Yargalma. Findings gathered that the affected communities have started mobilising to pay the bandits, even as locals said letters to that effect have since reached the affected communities through kidnap victims who regained freedom.
