There was jubilation at Niger State government house after about 90 rescued students of Salihu Tanko Islamic school in Tegina reunited with their families on Friday. The school children, who were taken captive on May 30 by bandits, spent nearly three months with their abductors. The children were officially received by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello. A joyous Ali Gimi, whose five children were among those kidnapped, said "Today is the happiest and most joyful day for me and my family," "We had lost our joy and happiness. This is like a dream after I had started losing hope," he said. "As I am speaking to you, the whole of our family has gathered at my house to celebrate their safe return."

Troops of the Multinational Joint Taskforce (MNJTF), operating at the fringes of Lake Chad Region have on Wednesday eliminated about 42 Boko Haram/Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Diffa, Niger Republic. Unfortunately, seven soldiers were lost as well. The Chief of Military Public Information of the MNJTF, Ndjamena, Colonel Muhammad Dole, disclosed this in a statement. Eight people have been killed and two injured by gunmen suspected to herdsmen during an attack in Yelwata town in the Guma local government area of Benue State The hoodlums during the rampage that took place around 6 pm on Tuesday abducted some person after killing and inflating wounds on about 10 indigenes.

The government of Plateau state has re-imposed the 24-hour curfew that had been previously relaxed following reports of fresh attacks on Yelwa Zangam Village in Jos North LGA, of the state, which led to the deaths of scores of people accompanied by destruction of properties. According to Governor Simon Lalong, the 24-hour period will begin at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, and will last until further notice. It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the Anagutta natives community with sophisticated weapons around 10 pm on Tuesday night and killed about 36 persons injured others. Those injured are being treated at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital in Jos. The gunmen raided the community for hours without help from security agents. The attackers destroyed the bridge leading to the community thereby preventing possible access before launching the attack, killing and maiming everyone on sight.

Following the kidnap of one hundred and twenty-one (121) students from Baptist High School Maraban Dami, in Kaduna State on 5th July 2021, fifteen more student students held hostage have regained their freedom from the den of its kidnappers.
