Notorious bandits numbering about nine have been killed during a face-off between rival groups in Kaduna State. The state government has attributed the development to credible human intelligence network reports corroborated by security agencies. The incident happened as the groups clashed at Garke Village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday. A notorious bandit popularly known as Godon Mota was said to have stormed Garke village in Giwa Local Government Area with members of his gang and clashed with a rival bandit group. The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday said, “Nemesis has caught up with two groups of bandits in Giwa Local Government who in a fratricidal gun duel killed nine of their fellows.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, approved the recommendations of a committee to review “with dispatch” 368 grazing sites across 25 states in the country “to determine the levels of encroachment.” The president’s directive followed his approval of the recommendations of a committee chaired by the Chief of Staff the President, Ibrahim Gambari. The kidnappers of the 15 students and four staff members of Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences (CAAS) Bakura, in a video posted on Wednesday, have threatened to kill all their hostages within the next 24 hours if ransom is not paid. In the 30 seconds video clip, one of the victims who spoke in Hausa language is heard pleading on the state government to come to their aid, while the bandits seen wielding AK 47 rifles stood behind them. The victim said they are faced with the threat of death from their abductors and they will be killed if the government does not act in the next 24 hours. He said they even took them to where they deposited the corpses of those kidnapped in Yarkofoji community. While he was speaking, one of the bandits, brandishing his AK 47 gun, kept saying “Yes, see it here we mean it. Everyone should see it here. It’s not a lie. Yes, we mean it.” In the video, the students and some of the female staff can be seen squatting and blindfolded with the armed evil-doers surrounding them.

The Nigerian Army has exposed confusion and apprehension within the camp of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists following the recent massive surrender of Boko Haram fighters. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, in Abuja, stressed the diminished strength of the terrorists, which has led them to desperately resort to cheap propangada to portray the group as if it is still a potent force in the North East. The statement exposed that the terrorists are overwhelmed with palpable fear and are making desperate efforts to halt the ongoing surrendering of their fighters from the Tumbus and Sambisa axis, which had drastically dwindled their overall fighting efficiency. Mr Nwachukwu said their confusion was further worsened by the Aug. 14 surrender of the terrorists in droves, with their families, to lay down their arms and surrender at Mafa Local Government Area in Borno state.

Hoodlums suspected to be bandits stormed the college of Agriculture, Bakura, in Zamfara State and made off with scores of students on Sunday night. It was gathered that assailants before kidnapping its victim invaded the school premises shooting sporadically and engaging in a gun duel with security personnel that eventually snatched the life of one of the officers.
