The Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, and 12 others members of his family have been kidnapped by armed bandits in Kaduna State at his residence early hours of Sunday. The Kaduna State Police Command's PRO, ASP Mohammed Jalige revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Sunday that the incident happened in the early hours of the day.

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to forgive the Yoruba nation campaigner, Mr Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho for his actions. 6 students and two staff of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria Kaduna State, who were kidnapped on 11 June by bandits have been released. The Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Abdullahi Shehu, said the kidnapped students and staff regained their freedom after their parents and relatives negotiated with the bandits. He, however, did not say specifically if any ransom was paid or not.

Former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Commissioner Ibrahim Magu (CP) has been denied promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) by the Police Service Commission (PSC) stating that the ex-EFCC boss is still under probe over allegations of misuse of office and has not been cleared by the Inspector General of Police, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

A bill seeking the creation of state police has passed the second reading at the house of representatives. The bill which was sponsored by Onofiok Luke representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency will alter the constitution in terms of state policing and other state government security services.

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Nigerian Army for preserving the unity of the country by demonstrating a high level of professionalism in its operations. The Minister of Defence, Major General Salihi Magashi (rtd) who spoke on behalf of President Buhari at the occasion of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, charged the Army to evolve new methods of winning the support and confidence of Nigerians. He noted that his Government and the Nigerian People appreciate the noble sacrifices the military makes to safeguard the nation.
