Barely two days after members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites staged a violent protest at the National Assembly, shooting some police officers and vandalizing properties, the aggrieved youths have returned to the streets of Abuja for fresh protest.
They are currently engaging security operatives at the Federal Secretariat.
The protesters who defied police directive to disperse peacefully displayed placards with various inscriptions such as "Death to Buhari, Death to America"; I'll never surrender, I will never support Injustice"; and "I Will Never Surrender or Support Injustice".
The group is calling for the unconditional release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who is currently undergoing trial over alleged treason. The group is calling for El-Zakzaky's release on medical ground to enable him attend to his health.
