Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiites on Monday, again set out on a protest for the release of their leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja. However, this protest became violent as the IMN members set ablaze the Emergency Response vehicles of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Security agencies have stepped in to quell the toxic protest but were resisted, turning into sporadic gunshots spree between Shiites and The Nigeria Police, thereby leaving the passersby in panic. As at the time of filing in this report, it has not been clear how many casualties have been recorded.
