Members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiites protested in Abuja on Tuesday demanding for the unconditional release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky.
The protest became violent when IMN members wanted to forcefully gain access to the National Assembly Complex.
Two policemen were said to have been shot while some security vehicles were set ablaze.
The IMN were said to have disarmed a policeman and used his gun to shoot two of his colleagues.
One of the shot policemen was taken to clinic unconscious.
Meanwhile, there was a reinforcement of policemen from the Force Headquarters. Also, men of the FCT Fire Service were drafted to the scene of the incident.
