President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Waziri-Azi as Director General (DG) of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
This was revealed in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
According to the statement, her appointment was recommended by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, who said there is the “urgent need for the Ministry to intensify on the existing capacity in NAPTIP in order to achieve its Key Result Areas as identified.”
She was appointed as Senior Special Assistant, Rule of Law in the Office of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
Waziri-Azi is a former Head of the Department of Public Law at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
She is also a Women’s Rights advocate, an expert in the Rule of Law, and a campaigner against domestic and sexual-based violence.
