President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named new members to the governing councils of the University of Abuja, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (NAU). According to a statement released on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the appointments come in the wake of the February dissolution of the University of Abuja’s Governing Council and the removal of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Maikudi, over questions concerning her eligibility.

The newly constituted governing council for the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) includes:

  1. Professor Rosemary Iriowen Egonmwan (South South)
  2. Dr. Adedeji Adefuye (South West)
  3. Professor Sarki Abba Abdulkadir (North West)
  4. Professor Aminu Mohammed Dukku (North East)

Similarly, President Tinubu has filled key positions in the governing councils of UNN and NAU.

The new council members for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) are:

  1. Rt. Hon. Barrister Ogbonna Eugene Odo (South East)
  2. Muhammad Inuwa Tahir, mni (North West)
  3. At Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), the appointed council members are:
  4. Dr. Nkem Okeke (South East)
  5. Ofoke Chukwuma Charles Ugbala (South East)
  6. Dame Amina Patrick Yakowa (North West)
  7. Nojeeb Oriola Agunbiade (South West)
