The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) stated that it deployed more than 200 mini-grids in underserved communities across Nigeria in 2025.
This was made known by the REA, Managing Director, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, during a media briefing in Kano state, noting that the deployments were conducted under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) between January and December 2025.
According to him, the completion of the NEP indicates a significant achievement in enhancing the supply of electricity in the country.
He also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the $750 million Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-Up (DARES) project, with the view of deploying 1,350 mini-grids to provide about 17.5 million Nigerians with electricity.
